Recent Developments in the German Industrie 4.0 – Programme: A New Platform and R&D-Project “On The Factory Shop Floor”

 

  1. New Platform Industrie 4.0

On the occasion of the Hannover Trade in April 2015, the new Platform Industrie 4.0 was launched. This platform is constituted of representatives from politics, associations, science and trade unions. Previously, the platform was only composed of industry associations: BITKOM, VDMA and ZVEI. Now, the platform is structurally reframed and also re-themed. The Platform Industry 4.0 is headed by Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister of Education and Research Johanna Wanka and leading representatives of the German Industry (Siemens, Festo, SAP, Deutsche Telekom) as well as from the IG Metall trade association, the BDI Federation of German Industry and the Fraunhofer Society. Bezoek Minister Kamp aan Hannover Messe 2015

20150414_144242De Hannover Messe is, met circa 6500 internationale exposanten, de grootste industriebeurs ter wereld. Jaarlijks ontvangt de beurs circa 200.000 bezoekers uit 70 landen. Onder het motto ‘Global Challenges, Dutch Solutions’ presenteren ruim 200 exposanten 2500 m2 aan Nederlandse technologie. Nederland behoort hiermee tot de vijf best vertegenwoordigde landen op de beurs; een uitstekende voortzetting van Holland Partnerland afgelopenjaar. Op dinsdag 14 april bezocht minister van Economische Zaken Henk Kamp de Nederlandse paviljoens op de Hannover Messe.

Nederland op de Hannover Messe 2015

Van maandag 13 tot en met vrijdag 17 april vindt de Hannover Messe plaats, de grootste industriebeurs ter wereld. Na het succesvolle partnerlandschap vorig jaar hoort Nederland dit jaar met ruim 200 exposanten bij de vijf best vertegenwoordigde landen op de beurs. Onder het motto ‘Global Challenges, Smart Solutions’ brengt Nederland naast de nieuwste technologie het Smart Industry-programma en veelbelovende start-ups onder de aandacht. Tevens zet Nederland zich in voor een intensievere handelsrelatie met Zuid-Duitsland, om ook daar te laten zien dat ‘Smart Solutions’ opvallend vaak ‘Dutch Solutions’ zijn. Continue reading

Commissioner Oettinger Discusses Digitisation at the Federal Ministry of Finance

On the 5th of March, the Federal Ministry of Finance hosted a debate with Guenther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, and Timotheus Hoettges, CEO of the Deutsche Telekom AG, concerning the digitisation. According to Oettinger, the potential growth in Germany is slow because of the demographic development. In his Keynote-Speech he emphasised how important the “Digital Single Market” is for Germany in order to compete with  China and the U.S.A.

He said that in Europe, a start-up has to get 28 different licenses. Therefore, to support start-ups, laws governing data protection should be “Europeanised”. This means, the 28 “fragmented” data protection laws are ought to be replaced by one general EU legal framework. This legal fragmentation is a disadvantage for start-ups in addition to the 24 different languages within the EU. Continue reading
