The Showroom Öffentliche Sicherheit at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin Works on Technological and Regulatory Issues in Emergency Response

On the 29th of July 2015, a delegation of The Hague Security Delta (HSD) visited the Showroom Öffentliche Sicherheit at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin. HSD is one of the biggest security clusters in Europe. The delegation consisted of the vice mayor of The Hague and representatives of Innovation Quarter, TNO and KPN.

At Fraunhofer FOKUS, around 500 scientists are working on technological solutions for the Smart City. With its expertise on technologies such as smart communication and system quality, the institute works on applications in public  IT, e- government, smart mobility, smart energy and public safety.  In the public safety field, Fraunhofer works together with the Freie Universität Berlin and public authorities in the Showroom Öffentliche Sicherheit. There is also a safety – lab, which consists of a test and demonstration environment for networked public safety solutions. Research is very oriented on emergency response and crisis management.
